History

Maa Kamakhya Temple complex dates to the 8th–9th century. The Worship Of Maa Ten MahaVidyas — Including Maa ChinnaMasta — developed under successive dynasties, with the koch king chilarai fully restoring the complex in 1565 ad after its destruction.

The Shrine Of Maa ChinnaMasta is one of seven individual Maa MahaVidya Temples surrounding the main Temple — a grouping that is rare and uncommon across all of india.

The Shrine is a sacred site for kaula tantrikas and Maa MahaVidya sadhaks, where tantric rituals are performed during gupta navaratri, Maa Kaali puja, and amavasya nights.
